"Lace Moko V"

Silverpoint 20x24in on Ampersand Gessobord

Lace Moko IV is the fifth in the Lace Moko series of my 12-year-old son Jakob.

Original available at Bryce Gallery, Christchurch

A new challenge is the medium Silverpoint, which is an ancient form of drawing from the renaissance period, silverpoint being what was used for drawing before graphite was introduced. It is a process of burnishing pure silver metal on to a prepared ground. The silver will tarnish over time as does any silver.

Silverpoint and Scratchboard are both exacting mediums with little room for error.
