"Max"

Monochrome Pastel 600x900mm, on Clairfontaine Pastelmat

Max is my brother, currently residing in Melbourne, Australia.
The beard is a recent addition and I loved a reference photo Max's partner Ra took on her phone, and I just had to paint it!
The phone photo was a very small file, so there was a lot of brother-sister relationship memories involved in this painting evolving.

"Max" was awarded Highly Commended

The PANZ annual national exhibition was this year held in Mapua, Tasman.
I was delighted to bring home 3 awards from this show with two monochrome pastel portraits. "Max", a portrait of my brother was awarded Highly Commended (second place), and he was also voted People's Choice, always a humbling award.
